What Is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis when used in therapy (hypnotherapy) gives you greater control over your life. Hypnotherapy can effectively treat a range of emotional or mental health issues and is a safe and effective tool for directly accessing the subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy is entirely patient-centred, based on the premises that the “inner knower” has the answers to various problems and to heal, people need to access their deepest mind or subconscious.

Hypnotherapy is often helpful in redefining emotional content and attitudes, as well as addressing a wide range of conditions including dysfunctional habits, anxiety, stress-related illness, pain management and personal development.

It is widely accepted now that many illnesses are psychosomatic, and that the body can become ill by the workings of the mind. If the mind is causing ill health, then the the mind can also bring good health.

Mind Power

Healing by an altered state of awareness is among the oldest phenomena known to man.

Inner Potential

The treatment of emotional and psychological disorders, unwanted habits and undesirable feelings, helps you become more accepting of yourself and others, promoting personal development and unlocking inner potential.

Rapid Recovery

Unlike many other psychological therapies, hypnotherapy is generally considered to be a fairly short-term approach in which beneficial change should become apparent within a few sessions. By gaining access to a patient’s sub-conscious mind, Hypnotherapy can help discover answers that a patient already knows, but has been concealed in the subconscious. Patients are then able to process the information learned in a session, and subsequently can change old habits and behaviours.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, commonly known as EMDR, is a type of therapy to help you break through emotional blocks and process traumatic events from your past. It’s best known for its role in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

People will often seek an EMDR therapist because they have experienced a traumatic or highly stressful event in their life. The memories of these events can cause us to feel lost, hopeless and disconnected from ourselves and others.

EMDR can help you regain a sense of control over your life and overcome the blocks that can be created by past traumatic life experiences.

Using a combination of hypnosis and EMDR provides an effective treatment to help people break through emotional blocks, bringing relief from the distress caused by traumatic memories and painful life experiences. EMDR can activate the brain and body’s natural ability to process past events, calms the brain and nervous system and rewires new, healthier pathways in your brain and body.

EMDR can be used to treat:

  • Past trauma
  • Shame
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Unresolved memories
  • Stress induced symptoms of traumatic events
  • Break free from cycles of trauma and abuse
  • Support recovery from addiction and substance abuse

While EMDR can be effective, it is not for everyone.
